If you receive a letter from any taxing agency, please call if you have questions. About issuing a 1099 for contract labor: if in doubt, send one out. Have them fill out a W9 before you pay them. If you get a CP2000, that is a serious letter. Gilbert answers other questions from listeners, as he realizes that half an hour really is not long enough!

Gilbert wants to be clear: this program is NOT about tax avoidance. He also offers clarification on "Larry" from last week. If you get a letter from the IRS, seek professional advice before you call them. Social security income is taxable and garnishable. Any 1099 you get is also reported to the IRS.
